Outdoor Activities On The Trail

As you stop by our amazing local breweries and distilleries, you may want to stop and enjoy the fresh air of the outdoors. Lucky for you, Coastal Virginia is filled with outdoor activities from parks to beaches that are great stopping points as you sip through the trail.

Hampton

Smell the salt of the water and feel the sand in your toes at Buckroe Beach Park. Located on the picturesque shores of the Chesapeake Bay, Buckroe Beach is a 3/4 mile long shoreline where you can rent jet skis, kayaks, and paddleboats to head out to the water or take a tour to see the local wildlife and historical sites.

Newport News

At over 7,000 acres, Newport News Park is one of the country’s largest municipal parks east of the Mississippi River. This park has everything you could want in a public park, from camping to hiking trails to freshwater fishing. It’s so easy to spend your entire day at the park that it would hard to pull yourself away to get back on the brewery trail.

Smithfield

Four-plus miles of woodland trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, and a state-of-the-art kayak and canoe launch make up Windsor Castle Park in downtown Smithfield. This gorgeous riverside park also features a dog park, which is a great pitstop in between dog-friendly breweries.

Williamsburg

Surrounded by trail locations, Colonial Williamsburg is the place to go to stretch your legs and see the history made right here in Virginia. Walk around the largest living history museum in the world, get a ticket to go inside the colonial houses and learn from costumed interpreters, and so much more.

Sip and taste the flavors of Coastal Virginia, and when you need a break, stop by one of these or the many other parks, beaches, and historical sites of the area. You won’t regret it.
