Brewery Spotlight: Oozlefinch Beers & Blending
On a small peninsula on the edge of Hampton on a decommissioned Army fort lies a craft brewery with a unique name: Oozlefinch Beers & Blending.
Oozlefinch gets its name after the unofficial mascot of the Order of the Oozlefinch, a secret society that was in the Army base of Fort Monroe. The Oozlefinch bird started as an Army joke, describing a featherless bird with bloodshot eyes that flew backwards. You can now see this bird on the logo of the brewery, keeping its same look throughout the years.
In 2014, Fort Monroe became a national monument and in 2016, Oozlefinch opened its doors. The team at Oozlefinch prides themselves on creating new offerings. From classic lager beers to experimental sours, there’s always something new to try here. Oozlefinch currently hosts food trucks, live music, and occasionally participates in events such as the Friends With Benefits Sourfest.
With gorgeous water views, a location with a rich history, and a delicious variety of beers, you can truly Toast the Coast at this brewery.
