Brewery Spotlight: Red Point Taphouse
If you’re looking for that local flavor, Red Point Taphouse has it from its craft beers to its homemade menu. The taphouse is owned by Smithfield residents Nick Hess, Derek Joyner and Tim Ryan. Hess and Joyner met as coaches for their sons’ baseball teams who realized their shared dream for local restaurant ownership while Ryan was brought in to share his expertise as a longtime brewer. Using a stripped down building at 803 S Church St. and adding pieces of repurposed barn wood from an old dairy farm, Pierceville Farm, proves that even the basis of the brewery is all Smithfield.
Red Point Taphouse features home brews with some clever (and sometimes hilarious) names that bring a taste of Smithfield. Beers such as the Big A$$ Belgian Blonde and the What The Helles Lager are just some of the brews you can find here, alongside other beers on tap from various local breweries in the area (maybe some from the Toast the Coast Trail).
But if you’re not feeling beer, Red Point Taphouse also serves craft cocktails and wine. They also have amazing food that is assembled from scratch. This means any one visit will give you a limited menu but you’ll probably find something new every time you visit. No two experiences are the same here.
Enjoy the local beer, food, and scenery of Red Point Taphouse as you enjoy the Toast the Coast 4 Cities 4 Swag Trail.
