Brewery Spotlight: Billsburg Brewery
Jamestown holds a lot of history, including its brewing history. The colonists of this settlement would brew beer from light lagers to medium ales and dark stouts. About 400 years later, Billsburg Brewery would be founded in a nearby marina to Historic Jamestowne, right off of the Colonial Parkway, continuing the proud brewing tradition. Even their logo shows off the European ships that would sail to what is now the United States.
The beers at Billsburg, much like the ones brewed in colonial times, range from the light to dark but with modern brewing techniques bringing us more variety. Some staples of Billsburg include the Classic Lager, the Fly Away IPA, and the Ghost Wind Stout. Billsburg also offers some international styles such as the James City Export, a German export lager, and the Le Triomphe, a French lager.
A visit to Billsburg is unlike any other. Billsburg sits on a 10-acre marina, providing breathtaking views of the water. Sit on the deck on one of the many tributaries that flow into the James River while sipping on one of the brews on tap. While many breweries offer food trucks, Billsburg is unique in that the Hungry Pug food truck can be found at this one location 7 days a week!
If you’re looking for a place with history, a unique location, delicious food, and of course, great beer, head out to Jamestown and spend some time at Billsburg Brewery.
